This generic specification relates to passive filter units for electromagnetic interference suppressionfor use within, or associated with, electronic or electrical equipment and machines.Both single and multi-channel filters within one enclosure are included within the scope of thisgeneric specification.Filters constructed of capacitive elements where the inductance is inherent in the constructionof the filter are within the scope of this specification. Similarly, filters constructed of inductiveelements where the capacitance is inherent in the construction of the filter are also within thescope of this generic specification. The manufacturer should state whether a given componentis to be designed as a capacitor, an inductor or a filter.The filter units within the scope of this generic specification are further distinguished as thosefor which safety tests are appropriate (e.g. those connected to mains supplies) and those forwhich such tests are not appropriate. A separate sectional specification covers the passivefilter units for which safety tests are appropriate.This generic specification establishes standard terms, inspection procedures and methods oftest for use in sectional and detail specifications within the IECQ-CECC system for electroniccomponents.
Is a supplementary document to the sectional specification and contains requirements for style and layout and minimum content of detail specifications. In the preparation of detail specifications, the content of 1.4 of the sectional specification shall be taken into account. The use of IEC 60939-2-2 may be more appropriate for components where approval and requalification tests contribute considerably to the cost of the product, whereas the employment of this specification may be necessary for components manufactured in mass production. This specification offers the assessment levels D and DZ (Zero defect).
