Elle ne traite pas des dalles en pierre naturelle pour les revêtements de sol intérieurs ou les escaliers de bâtiments. Dans ces cas, il convient de faire référence à l'EN 12058.

External paving use includes all pavements typical of road works, such as pedestrian and trafficked areas, outdoor squares and similar to be used in an outdoor condition that are subject to the weathering agents, such as temperature changes, rain, ice, wind, etc. This European Standard provides also for the evaluation of conformity and for marking of the natural stone setts. This European Standard also covers characteristics that are of importance to the trade.

Curved cladding panels, for the external finishing of walls, columns or pilasters; ii. Stone elements for framing one or more side openings in building walls or floors, such as sills, jambs, architraves and similar.This European Standard does not include stone masonry units, as defined in EN 771-6, stone which is a cast-on finish to pre-cast concrete or agglomerated stones. Moreover it does not cover commemorative or funeral stones and sculptures, when they do not show the above mentioned characteristics.
