La présente Norme internationale spécifie une méthode d'essai pour la détermination accélérée de la résistance des revêtements émaillés déposés sur l'aluminium et les alliages d'aluminium à l'écaillage dû à l'humidité ou aux intempéries. L'écaillage résultant du manque d'adhérence entre le revêtement et le métal de base, l'essai d'écaillage est un essai d'adhésion. Plus le phénomène d'écaillage constaté au cours de l'essai effectué est important, plus le risque qu'il se reproduise en conditions réelles est grand.

La norma definisce un metodo dell'adesione dello smalto porcellanato su alluminio mediante prova di impatto e attacco chimico con la soluzione di tricloruro di antimonio.
La presente norma è la versione ufficiale della norma europea EN ISO 13805 (edizione gennaio 2009). La norma specifica una metodica di prova per la determinazione accelerata della resistenza del rivestimento di smalto porcellanato su alluminio e sue leghe alla squamatura conseguente all'esposizione all'umidità e agli agenti atmosferici. Visto che la squamatura dipende dalla carenza di aderenza tra il rivestimento e il metallo di supporto, la prova di squamatura è una prova di aderenza. Maggiore è la squamatura ottenuta durante questa prova, maggiore è il rischio che l'articolo sia soggetto a questo problema durante l'utilizzo.
