2.1x00a0;The type of materials used in the manufacture of insulation products and the type of membrane used to face these products can sometimes affect fungi sustenance in the presence of high humidity. 2.2x00a0;This test method is used to determine the relative ability of an insulation and its facing to resist fungal growth under conditions favorable for their development. 2.3x00a0;This test method uses a comparative material to determine the relative ability of a material to resist fungal growth. In some specialized product areas, it is required that no growth take place. In such cases, the use of the comparative material is omitted and the pass/fail criterion is based upon growth. 1.1x00a0;This test method covers the determination of the ability of new insulation materials and their facings to resist fungal growth. 1.2x00a0;This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. 1.3x00a0;The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.
1.1 This specification covers the composition, dimensions, and physical properties of compression-resistant, perpendicularly oriented mineral fiber (rock, slag, or glass) roll and sheet insulation intended for use on flat, curved, or round surfaces up to 1000176;F (538176;C). This product (pipe and tank insulation) is typically used on nominal 24 in. (610 mm) or greater diameter surfaces. For specific applications, the actual use temperatures and diameters shall be agreed upon between the manufacturer and the purchaser.1.2 The orientation of the fibers within the roll or sheet insulation is essentially perpendicular to the heated/cooled surface (parallel to heat flow). This specification does not apply to flat block, board, duct wrap, or preformed pipe mineral fiber insulation where the insulation fiber orientation is generally parallel to the heated/cooled surface (across the heat flow).1.3 For satisfactory performance, properly installed protective vapor retarders must be used in low-temperature (below ambient) applications to prevent movement of water vapor through or around the insulation towards the colder surface.1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The SI equivalents of inch-pound units are given in parentheses for information only and may be approximate.1.5 When the installation or use of thermal materials, accessories, and systems may pose safety or health problems, the manufacturer shall provide the user-appropriate current information regarding any known problems associated with the recommended use of the company's products and shall also recommend protective measures to be employed in their safe utilization. The user shall establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory requirements prior to use. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
This document specifies the requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, erection, testing and inspection of site built, vertical, cylindrical, flat bottomed, above ground, welded, steel tanks for the storage of liquids at ambient temperatures and above, and the technical agreements that need to be reached (see Annex A).
This document contains catagorized results of fire tests of buildings materials, components and construction types. Due to the assignment to the classes of building materials according to DIN 4102 part 1 and the fire resistance classes of the other parts of DIN 4102 respectively, further fire tests for the verification of usability required by the building regulations are not necessary.
This standard contains sound insulation specifications of components and structures for timber construction, lightweight construction and dry walling, which may be used without acoustic testing in the calculation procedures stated in DIN 4109-2 for the verification of the requirements of DIN 4109-1.
1 This document specifies the requirements for the materials, design, fabrication, erection, testing and inspection of site built, vertical, cylindrical, flat bottomed, above ground, welded, steel tanks for the storage of liquids at ambient temperatures and above, and the technical agreements that need to be reached (see Annex A).\nThis document does not apply to tanks where the product is refrigerated to maintain it as a liquid at atmospheric pressure (see prEN 14620).\nThis document is concerned with the structural integrity of the basic tank structure and does not provide requirements for considering process design, operational issues, safety and firefighting facilities, in-service inspection, maintenance or repair. These aspects are covered in detail in other Codes of Practice (see Annex B).\n2 This document applies to closed-top tanks, with and without internal floating covers (see Annex C) and open-top tanks, with and without floating roofs (see Annexes D and E). It does not apply to 'lift-type' gas holders.\n3 This document applies to storage tanks with the following characteristics:\na) design pressure less than 500 mbar
