This British Standard applies to roof drainage systems usingcircular-section pipes that operate under siphonic action. It does not apply to siphonic drainage systems using rectangular or trapezoidal section conduits for water conveyance.It gives information and provides guidance on design parameters,installation, verification and maintenance needs of siphonic roofdrainage systems conforming to the performance requirementsspecified in BS EN 12056-3:2003, 6.2. Guidance is also given oncarrying out checks of designs, for the use of specifiers and regulatory authorities.Particular issues for site drainage systems that receive flows fromsiphonic roof drainage systems are also covered.

For higher temperatures, up to 50 ℃, additional type testing should be carried out.nIt also gives performance requirements and associated test methods for restrained and non-restrained flexible joints. Joint design and gasket shapes are outside the scope of this standard.nNOTE 1 PFA may be limited depending on pipe materials effectively connected.nNOTE 2 In this document, all pressures are relative gauge pressures, expressed in bars (100 kPa = 1 bar).nNOTE 3 EN 545 gives the specifications for the ductile iron fittings to be used with ductile iron pipes.nNOTE 4 EN 12842 gives the specifications for the ductile iron fittings to be used with PVC-U and PE pipes.

This part of ISO 21003 specifies the general aspects of multilayer piping systems intended to be used for hotand cold water installations inside buildings for the conveyance of water — whether or not the water isintended for human consumption (domestic systems) or heating systems — under specified design pressuresand temperatures appropriate to the class of application (see Table 1).ISO 21003 is a reference product standard (see 3.4.3). It is applicable to multilayer pipes, fittings, their joints,and also to joints with components made of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended to be used forhot and cold water installations. This part of ISO 21003 is intended for use only in conjunction with all theother parts of ISO 21003.ISO 21003 applies only to multilayer pipes with their inner layer made of plastics.It covers a range of service conditions (application classes) and design pressures. It is not applicable forvalues of design temperature, TD, maximum design temperature, Tmax, and malfunction temperature, Tmal, inexcess of those in Table 1.NOTE 1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selections from these aspects,taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.The polymeric materials used for the stress-designed layers are the following: polybutylene (PB), polyethyleneof raised temperature resistance (PE-RT), crosslinked polyethylene (PE-X), polypropylene (PP) andchlorinated poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-C).The PE-X used shall be fully crosslinked and shall comply with the requirements of the relevant referenceproduct standard (ISO 15875).NOTE 2 For the purposes of ISO 21003, crosslinked polyethylene (PE-X) as well as adhesives are considered asthermoplastic materials.Solid-wall pipes with thin outer layers (applied as protection layers or barrier layers, for instance) are notcovered by ISO 21003 but are specified in the Amendments to ISO 15874-2, ISO 15875-2 and ISO 15876-2.The total thickness of such outer layers, including the thickness of the adhesives used, shall be u 0,4 mm.
